Cat. #00104012: PETER COE

Scarce vintage 8x10-inch black and white restrike promotional portrait in his prime, boldly signed with his name alone in black felt-tip pen in his later years. In good condition, with a few minor handling dings. Chiseled, athletic Yugoslavian-born Peter Coe, who was typically cast as fiery ethnic types, made several important contributions to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy film genres, with starring roles in House of Frankenstein (1944) and The Mummy's Curse (1944).  He was also memorable, alongside Jon Hall and Maria Montez, in the exotic adventure flick Gypsy Wildcat (1944), John Wayne in Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) and a classic episode of T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" entitled "The Man in a Bottle" (1960).  Coe was a close, personal friend of Ed Wood, Jr., who long intended to cast him in a biopic about the last years of Bela Lugosi.
